The department runs routine histopathology services for the hospital. This includes the general histopathology services, as well as more specialized histochemistry and immunohistochemistry. Cytopathology services like body fluid cytology, cervical smears (Pap Smear) and sputum cytology also undertaken. The pathologists perform fine needle aspiration [FNAC] procedure upon request and report the same. The hospital based clinical pathology section deals with routine clinical pathology including peripheral smear study, bone marrow aspiration study.

The department is involved in teaching MBBS., M.Sc (Medical Physiology), B.Sc MLT, BPT and MPT students. It is well equipped with student’s laboratory including adequate number of built in light microscopes, demonstration halls, museum, and research laboratories. The teaching faculties are dedicated, well experienced and well versed in information technology related to medical teaching and research.
