The Department of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry has been functioning since the inception of this institution in the year 1988. Various restorative, endodontic, minor orthodontic, minor surgical, preventive procedures and recent advancements in treatment procedures are being done routinely. The department has a children play area section at the reception and the entire department is decorated with colorful pictures to make it appealing to the child patient. Undergraduate students are thoroughly trained in comprehensive preventive & therapeutic procedures for all the dental problems commonly encountered in children. They routinely carry out restorative procedures, oral prophylactic work, topical fluoride application and minor surgical procedures. Students are also taught the importance of prevention with stress being placed on various preventive strategies to reduce the incidence of dental diseases in children. First and second year undergraduate students have a clinical exposure posting where the primarily learn to differentiate between the primary and permanent teeth and become familiarized with the treatment procedures. Each PG is provided with separate KAVO chair along with all accessories and materials. The student will improve their clinical skill by treating a wide variety of patients and with emphasis being placed on inter-disciplinary treatment as and when required. To update oneself to the constantly changing trends in the field, seminar and journal discussions are conducted regularly for which the department is well equipped with a seminar hall and multimedia facilities.The department is fully equipped with modern sterilization equipments, x-ray unit and RVG and a library which contain recent editions of various prescribed textbooks.
